Founding Mission Statement

Whereas according to 2018 census data it is understood that:
“Women-owned firms made up only 19.9% of all firms that employed people in the
United States in 2018 but their numbers are growing.
There were 6,861 more women-owned firms in 2018 than in 2017, up 0.6% to 1.1
million, according to the Census Bureau’s  Annual Business Survey (ABS) .”
And Whereas:
“Most women-owned businesses are run by White women (82.8% of all women-
owned firms), non-minority (74.6%), non-Hispanic (92.4%), and non-veteran
(98.9%). “

There is, therefore, a need for a support organization which will focus on
encouraging, mentoring and building networks with and for women entrepreneurs.
The Lake of Love Women’s Foundation will make that happen and more. It will
also help the women of the Montgomery County in raising themselves and their
visions up to new levels, to encourage the development of life skills, self love,
financial independence, property ownership and credit repair and to bring a new
level of support to the women of the Miami Valley.

The Lake of Love Women’s Foundation will leverage its services by networking
closely with other women’s organizations in Montgomery County including but
not limited to the Artemis House, the Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce’s
Minority Business Partnership program, the Greater West Dayton Incubator,
Operation Hope and other accredited organizations.

The Lake of Love Women’s Foundation will also act as a conduit to direct women
to available resources which exist in Montgomery County for example, if a woman
of color in Dayton needed access to financial resources to grow her business, The

Lake of Love Women’s Foundation could direct her to the Community
Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund Organizations which invests
federal dollars alongside private sector capital to support economically
disadvantaged communities. Organizations that apply for the CDFI Fund programs
may be able to assist Black-owned businesses in acquiring loans, financial
services, and technical assistance.

The Lake of Love Women’s Foundation will also offer community outreaches such
as seminars, camps and other educational and motivational events.

The Lake of Love Women’s Foundation will be a division of the 501 (c) 3 charity
The Lake of Love Foundation.
